History
Founded in 1890, the Holy Family School is a beacon of light, offering a solid Catholic educational foundation. In its beginnings, three Franciscan Sisters worked to create a welcome environment in which students could learn. It began as an elementary school. In 1921, three members of the "Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate" arrived and transformed it into a K-12 elementary and high school. In time, the number of sisters grew to fifteen. The original purpose was to offer a Catholic education to African American students, who were otherwise unable to afford such opportunities.
Through the years, due to financial struggles and hardships, HFS has been downsized. It is now the Holy Family Early Learning Center, providing education and care to students ages two through five, in pre-Kindergarten through Kindergarten. Today, we have over 70 students enrolled, and continue to offer the solid education that the original founders intended.

HFS is a religious institution that focuses on the person as a whole. Our goal is to provide students with a sound educational background to prepare them for their continued education, and to prepare them to learn throughout the rest of their lives. HFS draws from the Catholic religion to teach love, friendship, and integrity, which compliments the emphasis on academic achievement.
The Holy Family Early Learning Center's mission can be summaized in our motto:
LEARN so we can LIVE so we can LOVE!

Objectives
Methodology
To be able to attain the objectives, the Holy Family Early Learning Center program is based on a "hands-on" discovery approach to learning (i.e. learning through playing and active participation).
Holy Family Early Learning Center, as a ministry of the Holy Family Church, shares with the Church family the "age old" adage that says "the family that prays together stays together."
The place of worship is the Church building situated on the Church property facing St. Catherine Street. Teachers and staff guide the Center children to the Church. By registering your child in the Center, the parent consents to the spiritual formation of the child and that includes spiritual activities.
